Tad Elkins
Piano
Greenbrier East High School, 11th grade
Age 16
4.5 years of private study
Instructor: Susan Adkins
Tad has been in one music class or another since he was a baby. From Kindermusik to his first private instruction in violin beginning at the age of four, Tad has studied music longer than even he can remember. The tenor and baritone saxophone would become his instruments of choice through middle school and his first two years of high school. In tenth grade, Tad took on the challenge of the bassoon which earned him a position in the Southern West Virginia Honor Band. The same year, he was invited to the Marshall University School of Music High School Honor Band for tenor sax.
Tad began private piano lessons the summer before seventh grade, showing an early talent for the instrument. Since 2023, he has studied piano exclusively, setting aside the saxophone for the time being. His teacher is Susan Adkins.
